What is the expected lifecycle of a spring and what can I do to make it longer?
An average spring has a design life of 7000-10,000 cycles, where a cycle consists of one opening and closing of the door. Getting the right spring for your door (depending on its size and weight) is the first step of making sure it lasts the longest. The second one is having it professionally installed. You’ll be surprised to know how many springs broke merely months after getting out of the box!
Why does my garage door go back up when I try to close it?
The most likely cause is that you have a problem with your safety sensors. First, clear the door’s path from any obstructions. If the path is clear and the door still won’t close, try cleaning the safety sensors with a soft, dry cloth. And finally, make sure that the photo eyes are properly aligned.
